Caleb Ekene Onwe, Esq., the visionary founder of Penlit & Greyson, leads the firm’s Enterprise and Commercial Practice, Intellectual Property and Entertainment Practice, and Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Department. Admitted to the Nigerian Bar and an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Caleb is specialized in Intellectual Property and Information and Communication Law expert.

Renowned for his profound legal expertise, Caleb has distinguished himself in high-profile cases and transactions, collaborating with top-tier Nigerian law firms. Beginning his career in the Federal Capital Territory, he later relocated to Lagos to establish Penlit & Greyson. His extensive experience includes working with a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to develop banking and structured finance practices, with a focus on commercial banking, factoring, and securitization. Caleb’s advanced knowledge in corporate financing complements his versatile expertise across the firm’s practice areas.

A technology-savvy intellectual property enthusiast, Caleb has built a robust IP portfolio management practice, advising clients like an Indonesian pharmaceutical company and local entertainment firms. His training includes advanced courses in digital technology, data protection, IP portfolio management, power, energy, and taxation (PWC Tax Academy). Notably, he attended a 2016 Factoring and Securitization course by AFREXIMBANK and the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Key transactions under Caleb’s leadership include advising on the Production Sharing Contract (PSC) involving Nigeria-Sao Tome, Principe, Equator Hydrocarbon Limited, Papis Oil Limited, and Dangote Group, as well as a power contract between the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria and Skipper Nigeria Limited. His landmark litigation includes the high-profile My Pikin case at the Supreme Court, a defining moment in Nigerian product liability law.
